As he continues to rehab from a knee injury, Paul Pogba will miss the World Cup finals in Qatar.
With Les Bleus, he was hoping to play in his third major tournament final after winning the World Cup in Russia last year.
According to tests in Italy and the United States, the 29-year-old will not be fit for the 2022 World Cup.
"We won't see him until 2023, and his entourage has confirmed he won't be at the World Cup," a Juventus spokesman said.
"Paul Pogba requires more rehabilitation following his operation," his agent, Rafaela Pimenta, said on Monday.
It is for this reason that Paul is not able to be a part of the France team in Qatar."
In July, two weeks after rejoining Juventus from Manchester United, Pogba underwent surgery after torn his meniscus.
Since then, he has had a rough time. He has also been involved in an extortion scandal with his older brother.
Against Australia, France begins their World Cup campaign in Qatar on November 22. Group D also includes Denmark and Tunisia.
